Sussex Cricket were finally able to secure their survival in the County Championship, after Day 2 of their season finale against Worcestershire, reaching the 300 run target they needed to confirm their safety, and finished the day's action in control, trailing by 43 runs with only four wickets intact for the visitors, with John Simpson impressing, managing an unbeaten 129 runs.
Over to football, with Lewes confirming that their fixture away to Chichester City this weekend has been postponed, following a fatal head injury suffered by Chichester’s Billy Vigar last weekend in their match with Wingate & Finchley.
Elsewhere, AFC Uckfield Town will be hoping to maintain their improved form when they welcome bottom of the league Copthorne to The Oaks, as Jarvis Brook travel to face Reigate Priory.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield are away to Copthorne 2nd’s in the first round of the Montgomery Cup, while Ridgewood play at home against Ringmer 3rd’s, as Barcombe welcome Horsted Keynes in the Somerville Cup.
