Weekend Sprting Preview

Lewes have a big test ahead of them this weekend, as they prepare for the Sussex derby at home against Horsham, with the visiting side having won their last seven league matches on the bounce and sit fifth in the table, while The Rooks currently find themselves in 13th.

Crowborough Athletic are away to a Petersfield Town side that trail them by a single point, while AFC Uckfield Town have their own challenge as they visit league leading Seaford Town, as Jarvis Brook prepare to host TD Shipley.

In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield travel to face second in their league Balcombe, while Ridgewood visit Westfield, as Barcombe play at home against midtable Nutfield Saturday.

Meanwhile, Buxted will play away against the Preston Manor Royals, with Nutley visiting second in their league Rotherfield 2nd’s, as Plumpton Athletic travel to face Keymer & Hassocks in the Parsons Cup Quarter Finals.

Lastly in the men’s, it’s a top two clash for Maresfield Village, as they play at home against league leading Scaynes Hill, with three points separating the two sides, while Newick are at home against Ansty FC 2nd’s looking to continue their own title push, as Hartfield aim to extend their unbeaten run away to Willingdon Athletic 2nd’s.

In women’s football, AFC Uckfield Town are visiting Ringmer AFC on Sunday, with the two sides level on points sitting third and fifth place respectively in the league.

Now to men’s rugby, Heathfield & Waldron are away against second from bottom Charlton Park, as Crowborough visit third from bottom Ashford, while Uckfield in the Sussex Leagues face a big test as the league leaders travel to face second place Seaford, with nine points separating the two sides.

Finally in women’s rugby, Sunday’s fixtures sees Heathfield & Waldron host third place Medway, while Uckfield visit their league leaders in the Seaford Scarlets.
