Crowborough Athletic left it late to continue their strong start to the season by beating Peacehaven & Telscombe 2-1
Thanks to a 96th minute winner by Jake Turner, while AFC Uckfield Town continued their winless streak, losing 1-0 to Newhaven, despite a much improved performance, and a missed penalty for The Oakmen.Jarvis Brook remained top of the league in Division 2, after their entertaining 3-2 victory against Rottingdean Village, extending their unbeaten run in the league to seven games.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield lost 4-2 to an unbeaten Reigate Priory, while Barcombe fell to a 3-0 defeat to Crawley AFC. Buxted were able to overpower Fletching, in a dominant 9-0 win, while Plumpton Athletic earned their first league win of the season, beating AFC Varndeanians 3rd’s 4-1 thanks to an Aden Manning hattrick, as Newick fell to a 4-2 defeat away to AFC Hurst.
Lastly in football, as two of our local teams progressed in the Brian Hall Trophy, with Maresfield Village earning a 3-1 win against Barcombe 2nd’s, while Hartfield beat Hurstpierpoint 3rd’s 4-2.
In rugby, Heathfield & Waldron narrowly lost to an inform Ashford side by 21-17, while Crowborough overcame their challenging opponents in previously top of the league Dartfordians, with a closely fought 21-19 win moving Crowborough up-to third, as one of only three unbeaten sides remaining, three games in.
