AFC Uckfield Town extended their winless streak to eight games in a row
It came with the side falling to a closely fought 1-0 defeat away to Eastbourne Town, while Crowborough Athletic beat Peacehaven and Telscombe 4-2 on penalties to progress into the next round of the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at home to Balcombe, while Ridgewood maintained their perfect record in the Championship, narrowly beating Godstone 2-1, thanks to an Aaron Stimson double. Barcombe drew 2-2 with Cuckfield Rangers 2nd’s, as Fletching lost 3-1 at home to the Burgess Hill Rhinos, and Buxted fell to 4-0 defeat to Welcroft Park Rangers.Both of our local teams are out in the Malins Cup first round, with Plumpton Athletic losing 3-1 to Ringmer AFC 3rd’s, while Nutley lost out in an end to end clash with Polegate Town 2nd’s, with the side losing 5-4 in the end.
Lastly in the football, Newick managed their first win of the season beating Ditchling 4-3, as Maresfield Village earned a 5-3 win against Ringmer AFC 4th’s, while Hartfield drew 1-1 with FC Railway 2nd’s.
In local rugby, as Uckfield suffered a defeat in their league opener, losing 30-10 to Burgess Hill, while Heathfield & Waldron drew 3-3 with Crowborough, as Newick fell to a 43-22 defeat to Shoreham 2nd’s.
