Despite the weather curtailing the majority of the local sports this weekend, a few teams were able to beat the elements,
Lewes FC falling to a 3-2 defeat to Leatherhead, in their penultimate match at The Dripping Pan before the start of the league season.
Rotherfield fell to a heavy 5-0 defeat to Hailsham Town, and Crowborough Athletic lost 2-1 to Lydd Town, with Elliott Duncan scoring in the 87th minute for the Crows to equalise, before the visitors managed an even later winner in the 90th minute.
It was a better result for Jarvis Brook meanwhile, as they drew 3-3 with Eastbourne Town Reserves.
It was a convincing result for Ridgewood FC, as they beat Lindfield’s 3rd XI by seven goals to one, with two goals apiece for Lee & Aaron Stimson.
Looking ahead to next week, and the Southern Combinations is back underway this Saturday, with two of our local sides in action, as AFC Uckfield Town host AFC Vardenians at The Oaks, and Crowborough Athletic are at home to Saltdean United, so be sure to head down there this weekend and give them some well deserved support.
