In the weekend’s local football, there was disappointment for AFC Uckfield Town

Crowborough Athletic moved up to sixth place in the table after a two-nil home win over Horsham YMCA.
In the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield drew one-all with Sedlescombe Rangers. There was a big win for Ridgewood, who beat West Hoathly six-one. Elsewhere, Newick and Barcombe drew two apiece.
Nutley lost four-two at Eastbourne Rangers Reserves. Fletching were beaten two-one by Lectern Lights, while Hartfield drew three-all at Reigate Priory and in cup competitions, there were wins for Jarvis Brook and Plumpton Athletic.
In the Isthmian Premier Division, Lewes kept alive their play-off hopes with a one-nil victory over Enfield Town.
In the Premier League, after twice taking the lead, Brighton and Hove Albion had to settle for a point from a two-all draw at Leeds.
In women’s football, a late goal gave AFC Uckfield Town’s ladies team a one-nil victory over Mile Oak yesterday. Elsewhere, Lewes’s ladies were beaten three-one at London City Lionesses, while Brighton’s ladies team lost two-one at home to Manchester City.
For local rugby, Uckfield were beaten at Pulborough by 49 points to 19. But, there was another win for Crowborough, who defeated bottom club Aylesford Bulls by 26 points to 14.
