Weekend Sporting Report

AFC Uckfield Town came away from their trip to Midhurst and Easebourne with a point from a two-all draw.

In the weekend’s local football, Crowborough Athletic went down to a three-nil defeat at home to league leaders Broadbridge Heath.

Also in the Southern Combination League, table-topping Jarvis Brook thrashed Copthorne seven-one.

In the Mid Sussex League, several of our local teams had their matches postponed due to unplayable pitches.  In games that did take place, Rotherfield lost three-one at home to Ashurst Wood.  Newick were four-one winners over Burgess Hill Rhinos, while Nutley were beaten four-one by Barcombe and Maresfield went down to a two-one defeat at Athletico Burgess Hill.

Lewes went out of the FA Trophy in a penalty shootout against Bognor Regis, after the two teams drew two-all at the end of 90 minutes.

Lewes’s ladies scored a late winner in a one-nil victory at Sunderland.  And, a stoppage-time equaliser denied Brighton’s ladies all three points in a three-all draw against Liverpool.
