In the weekend’s local football, Crowborough Athletic moved into the second round of the national FA Vase

In Division Two of the Southern Combination League, Jarvis Brook retained top spot following a three-two home win over their nearest rivals Capel.
Turning to the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield defeated AFC Ringmer four-two. Nutley were three-two winners over Portslade. And Fletching recorded their first win of the season with a two-one victory at neighbours Newick.
Elsewhere, Plumpton drew one-all at DCK Reserves. But there were defeats for Barcombe, Hartfield and Maresfield.
And in cup matches, Ridgewood beat West Hoathly two-one on the Uckfield All-weather pitch, while Buxted lost three-two at Sovereign Saints.
Lewes made it back-to-back wins in the Isthmian Premier Division thanks to a two-nil home win over Margate. But, it’s now five games without a win for Brighton and Hove Albion after their three-one defeat at Manchester City.
In women’s football, Lewes gained their first of the season yesterday with a two-one victory over Durham. Meanwhile, Brighton’s ladies lost two-nil at home to Chelsea.
Finally, in local rugby, Crowborough were beaten at Bromley by 57 points to 15.
