In the weekend’s local football in the Southern Combination League, AFC Uckfield Town made it back-to-back wins with a three-one victory over bottom club Roffey at the Oaks.
It was a good day too for Crowborough Athletic, who won two-nil at Horsham YMCA. And Jarvis Brook maintained top spot in their league with a one-nil victory at Charlwood.
In the Mid Sussex League, Rotherfield won two-nil at Willingdon Athletic. Buxted were three-two winners at Roffey Development, and Plumpton Athletic trounced Maresfield eight-one.
Elsewhere, Newick drew one-all at home to Portslade Athletic. Barcombe shared the points with Burgess Hill Rhinos in a two-all draw, and Uckfield United also drew two-apiece with Polegate Town Reserves.
Meanwhile, there were defeats for Nutley, Fletching and Hartfield.
Lewes edged past Sevenoaks one-nil in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy.
And in the Premier League, Brighton and Hove Albion were beaten by the only goal against Tottenham at the Amex Stadium.
Finally, in local rugby, there was a first win of the season for Crowborough, who won an exciting match at Aylesford Bulls by 40 points to 36.
