Weekend Sporting Preview

After encouraging performances in both their opening two league matches, AFC Uckfield Town and Crowborough Athletic turn their attention tomorrow to the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.

Both teams have home ties - Uckfield meet Midhurst and Easebourne, while Crowborough host Crawley Down Gatwick.  Both matches kick off at 3 pm.

The Mid Sussex Football League doesn’t get underway until next week.  But this weekend sees the return of the Premier League, with Brighton and Hove Albion opening their campaign with a trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

In the weekend’s local cricket, Uckfield Anderida visit Linden Park’s third team.

There’s a crucial match for Buxted Park, as they go to Crawley to take on Ifield in a top-of-the-table clash.  It’s also first versus second as leaders Isfield entertain Lewes Priory.

Elsewhere in the Sussex Cricket League, there are home fixtures tomorrow for Barcombe, Plumpton and East Chiltington, Fletching, Nutley and Blackboys.

Sussex’s county team are in Royal London One-Day Cup action today, as they welcome Gloucestershire to the County Ground. Sussex are back at Hove on Sunday for the visit of Leicestershire.

Finally, for local racing enthusiasts, it’s the final day today of the Festival of Racing at Brighton.  The first race is due off at twenty past one.
