Weekend Sporting Preview

Uckfield Anderida will be hoping to bounce back from their heavy defeat last Saturday, as they host Mayfield’s third team. Play at the Victoria Ground begins at one o’clock.

Crowborough face a stiff test, as they visit top-of-the-table Little Common Ramblers second team, while Buxted Park are at home to Bexhill.

Elsewhere, Newick go in search of a fourth successive win, as they entertain Ringmer, and Isfield visit Bexhill’s second eleven.

Plumpton and East Chiltington are at home to unbeaten Burgess Hill seconds, and Rotherfield host Polegate and Stone Cross’ second team.

Meanwhile, there are away fixtures this week for Barcombe, Fletching, Nutley and Blackboys.

It’s a crucial weekend for the Sussex Sharks in their bid to reach the knock-out stage of the T20 Blast.  This evening, the Sharks head to Chelmsford to take on Essex, and on Sunday afternoon they travel to Cardiff to meet Glamorgan.

In local bowls, Uckfield are at home to Cross In Hand tomorrow afternoon in the Horam League.

For local tennis fans, tomorrow sees the start of the qualifying competition for this year’s Eastbourne International Tennis tournament.

And finally, it’s good luck to all the cyclists taking part on Sunday in the ‘Big Sussex Bike Ride’, featuring TV celebrity Davina McCall.  This year’s event, which is in support of the Action Medical Research charity, is being hosted by Uckfield Rugby Club.
