Lewes progressed into the next round of the FA Trophy

Elsewhere, Crowborough Athletic returned to league action with a bang by beating previously top of the table Hassocks 2-1 with Harry Forster bagging a brace to see the side climb to sixth, as AFC Uckfield Town saw their fixture at home to Mile Oak postponed, while Jarvis Brook drew 2-2 with Southwater to remain in second.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Ridgewood saw their game against Ringmer AFC fail to beat the elements, with Rotherfield losing 5-2 at home to Westfield, while Barcombe drew 2-2 with Newhaven 2nd’s.
Meanwhile, Buxted’s game away to Horsted Keynes was also called off, while Nutley were held to a 3-3 draw against Montpelier Villa 2nd’s, as an Aden Manning hattrick helped Plumpton Athletic make it into the third round of the Malins Cup by beating Cuckfield Town 2nd’s 4-1.
Lastly in the men’s, Newick beat Ansty FC 2nd’s 3-1 to make it three wins from three in the league, while Maresfield Village drew 2-2 with Ditchling, as Hartfield earned a 3-1 win at home to Marle Park Wanderers to maintain their own three game winning streak in the league.
In women’s football, Lewes looked back to their best in a 3-0 victory against Cheltenham Town, with the result seeing them now sit in sixth.
Now in rugby, Heathfield & Waldron suffered only their second defeat of the season in their 25-24 loss to Park House, losing in the last play of the game, while Crowborough managed a commanding 45-5 win away to Charlton Park.
Finally for rugby, Uckfield were victorious in their top of the table clash with Shoreham, beating the home side 32-15 to continue their perfect start to the season five games in.
