Weekend Local Sporting Report

Lewes were again held back by a late goal over the weekend, drawing 2-2 at home against Cheshunt with the home side actually taking the lead in the 88th minute before conceding two minutes later, with the draw meaning The Rooks are now without a win in their last six games.

Crowborough Athletic put in a great shift as they beat Wick 4-1, bringing The Crows up to fourth in the table, and they can go up to second if they win their game in hand, while AFC Uckfield Town and Jarvis Brook were amongst the many teams who saw their fixtures postponed due to the frigid conditions this weekend.

In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Ridgewood came out the wrong side of an action packed 8-3 loss against Tunbridge Wells 2nd’s, while Buxted exited the Somerville Cup quarter finals after their 4-1 loss versus the Cuckfield Rangers 2nd’s.

Lastly in football, Nutley are out of the Stratford Cup despite putting up a credible performance in their 2-1 defeat against Preston Manor Royals, rconceding the winner in the 94th minute, while Newick progressed in the Tester Cup following their 2-1 victory against Ansty FC 2nd’s.

And finally in the women’s rugby, Heathfield & Waldron impressed as they comfortably dispatched Horsham 40-0, leaving the team in second and only six points behind the league leaders Dartford Valley.
