AFC Uckfield Town exited the Division 1 Challenge Cup

Over to the Mid Sussex Leagues, Ridgewood’s search for their first league win continues after a 3-2 loss to Tunbridge Wells 2nd’s, while Rotherfield claimed a point in their 1-1 draw with Godstone.
In the Sommerville Cup, Barcombe were eliminated by Ringmer AFC 3rd’s on penalties, drawing 3-3 in regular time before falling to a 3-1 defeat in the shootout, while Buxted progressed after a strong 6-1 win against Peacehaven & Telscombe 2nd’s
Meanwhile, Nutley got their first win of the season after beating Polegate Town 2nd’s 1-0, while Plumpton Athletic are in the next round of the Malins Cup as they earned a 4-1 win against Portslade Athletic.
Lastly in the men’s, Maresfield Village narrowly lost 3-2 against Keymer & Hassocks, while Newick saw their tie with Welcroft Park Rangers 2nd’s called off, as Hartfield progressed in the Brian Hall Trophy after their 3-1 victory against Marle Place Wanderers.
In women’s football, a fantastic strike from Olivia Carpenter meant Lewes claimed their first win of the season by beating Oxford United 2-1, while AFC Uckfield Town also saw their tie against Infinity called off due to the weather.
And in the men’s rugby, Crowborough have claimed bragging rights by winning against previously table topping Heathfield & Waldron 36-31, while Uckfield got their season off strongly as they beat Ditchling 37-21, as did Newick, who won 12-7 against Midhurst.
Lastly in women’s rugby, Heathfield & Waldron made it two wins from two by beating Horsham 27-7.
