Think about food waste during action week

Food Waste Action Week is underway and Wealden District Council are urging residents to try and change their behaviour.

The theme is ‘Win. Don’t Bin' with the aim of demonstrating how food unites people and using up everything we buy saves money, time and the planet.

The campaign includes advice on using up leftovers and ultimately reducing food waste at home.

Councillor Ray Cade, Wealden council’s portfolio holder for Waste, said, “It is important that we all look at how much waste we make and what we can do to reduce it. We are all guilty of throwing food away that could have made another meal or been frozen to eat at another time.

“With the cost-of-living pressures we are facing, it is important to think more consciously about how to save food, using leftovers and overall reducing our waste to help keep money in our pockets.”
