Wealden Conservatives send their deepest condolences to The King and his family on the tragic news of the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II.
In light of the very sad news, and as a mark of our abiding respect, all campaigning for the forthcoming Wealden District Council by-election in Maresfield ward will be suspended until further notice.
Wealden Conservatives Chairman, Daphne Bagshawe, said: “We are all deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth who was a living example of duty.
“We focus now on the nation's desire to honour Her Majesty and support His Majesty King Charles as he takes up the role of Sovereign.
Queen Elizabeth was a Monarch loved and admired, not only in our country but around the world. As our longest reining Sovereign, she set an example to everyone of selfless public duty.”
God Save the King.
