RNLI To Recruit Lifeguards In East Sussex

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has said it wants to recruit lifeguards in East Sussex ahead of summer.

Applicants should be able to swim 400m in under seven and a half minutes, run 200m on a beach under 40 seconds, or swim 25m in 50 seconds, the charity wrote on its website.

They should also "enjoy spending time on the beach keeping people safe," it added.

The RNLI said it needed lifeguards in Bexhill, Hastings and Camber Sands.

The RNLI said the role lasts for the summer season, however, it said many lifeguards use the training as a springboard to a career in emergency or public services or to find jobs abroad.

Applicants also need to be aged 16 or over and hold a National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification, they added.
