Nutley Windmill had been damaged by a broken stock
There was a crowd funding appeal to help with repairs.
Following the success of that appeal, UDPS are delighted to announce that the new stocks will be fitted to the windmill on Wednesday 21 June 2023.
Work will start early in the morning and go on until the stocks have been safely fitted to the windmill.
The sweeps (sails) will not be fitted on 21st, but this will happen as soon possible after the fitting of the stocks.
Although everything is booked for 21st, UDPS must point out that adverse weather on the day could mean the work has to be postponed, possibly at short notice.
In particular, strong winds could make the exercise dangerous, and the safety of everyone involved is paramount.
Nutley Windmill is open to visitors on the last Sunday of each month from 2-30 to 5-30 pm, as well as on Bank Holidays.
Admission is free, but UDPS always welcome donations towards restoration costs.
