Piltdown Golf Club has been named one of three national finalists for the Women in Golf Charter Club Award at the upcoming 2026 England Golf Awards.
Nomination Highlights
This nomination recognizes the club's "sustained, strategic and measurable commitment" to gender equality over the past three years. Key achievements cited include:
- Growth in Participation: Introduced 106 women to the sport, with 77 currently in the club's Academy programme.
- Junior Development: Increased the number of girls with handicaps from 3 to 10 within the last year.
- Structural Equality: Removed joining fees for female academy members and allowed women to bypass membership waiting lists.
- Leadership Representation: Maintained a minimum of 20% female representation on the board, with women also serving as heads of department and greenkeepers.
- Modernised Access: Opened historically men-only weekend competitions to women.
Event Details
The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Piltdown is competing against two other finalists:
- Cosby Golf Club (Leicestershire & Rutland)
- Henbury Golf Club (Gloucestershire)
In addition to this nomination, Piltdown was recently awarded Junior Hub status by England Golf, becoming only the third club in Sussex to achieve the designation
