And the new Wealden District Commissioner
Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was pleased to meet with the new Wealden District Commander, Chief Inspector Andy Nicklin and the new Wealden District Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Ed Neve of Sussex Police to welcome them to their new roles and discuss tackling crime in Wealden.
Nusrat was pleased to learn about the ongoing community outreach to support Wealden residents with reporting incidents of domestic violence as well as scams and fraud, and discuss the new Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan to make sure that people feel safer in their communities and perpetrators face swift and visible justice.
During the meeting, Nusrat also raised individual cases of constituents, farmers, and local businesses who had reached out to share their concerns regarding crime and sought assurances that the police force is ready to deal with incidents speedily and effectively.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to meet with the new Wealden District Commander and Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector and receive assurances that the incidence of crime in the constituency remains low, with police resources focusing on reducing response times and increasing visibility on the ground. I meet regularly with constituents who have been the victims of crime and particularly rural crime, and I am pleased that additional security equipment funded jointly by contributions from local residents, the Parish Council, Sussex Police and the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner's office, was installed in Blackham village last year, following sustained campaigning from the community. I look forward to continuing working closely with Sussex Police and the Wealden Neighbourhood Team to ensure that Wealden remains one of the safest places in the country.”
