Sussex Cricket suffered a major setback in their aim of reaching the quarter finals of the T20 Blast last night, losing to bottom of the league Essex by six wickets, with the Sharks struggling massively in their opening innings, finishing with 145 runs while John Simpson led the team with 52, leaving Paul Farbrace’s side with an insurmountable challenge, and now need to reset before a crucial fixture in the Blast on Sunday, away to Hampshire.
Over to local cricket, Crowborough are at home against third in the league Newhaven, as Uckfield Anderida host an in-form Ringmer 2nd’s side, while Buxted Park will be looking to end their run of draws away against Eastbourne.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park’s will welcome second from bottom Ditchling, while Newick travel to face Mayfield, with Isfield looking to continue their title challenge and make it seven wins on the bounce when they visit Polegate & Stone Cross.
Meanwhile, Plumpton & East Chiltington are at home against Rottingdean 2nd’s, with Barcombe travelling to play an out of form Crawley Down side, as Fletching prepare to visit Lingfield.
