Sussex Cricket had mixed fortunes on Day 3 of their County Championship clash at home against Essex, ending the day trailing by 57 runs, after a promising opening session that saw them reach 203 for three, but Paul Farbrace’s side struggled post-tea, slumping to 245 for seven by stumps, and need a big performance today to keep their chances alive.
In local cricket, Crowborough will welcome a mid table Iden side, as Uckfield Anderida visit top of their league Sidley, with Buxted Park hoping for a return to form when they travel to face Hastings & St Leonards Priory.
Elsewhere, Heathfield Park are at home to Hastings & St Leonards Priory 2nd’s, while Newick away against second in their league Herstmonceux, with top of the table Isfield hoping to extend their 23 point lead over Herstmonceux when they visit Buxted Park 2nd’s.
Meanwhile, Plumpton & East Chiltington will be aiming to build on their improved form of late as they play away against another inform side in the Preston Nomads 3rd’s, with Barcombe visiting Brighton & Hove 3rd’s, as Fletching travel to face Battle.
Lastly in cricket, Rotherfield will host an out of form Linden Park 3rd’s, while Blackboys welcome bottom of their league Mayfield 3rd’s, as Nutley travel to face Hailsham 3rd’s, with Hadlow Down at home against Burgess Hill 4th’s.
Over to football, where Crowborough Athletic will play their final pre-season when they host Balham, while AFC Uckfield Town prepare for another match at The Oaks when they face Upper Beeding.
Finally in the bowls, Saturday’s fixtures sees Crowborough visit Bayham & Lamberhurst, while Uckfield welcome Grosvenor, with Sunday’s fixtures having Crowborough host The Grove, as Uckfield travel to face Rotherfield in the Horam League.
