She was at Ashdown Primary
Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, has returned to Ashdown Primary School in Crowborough to speak to the new Year 5 cohort about the workings of Westminster and her role as Member of Parliament, Chairman of Ways and Means and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons.
Year 5 pupils at Ashdown Primary School in Crowborough have started the autumn term by learning about the democratic system of the UK, the role and responsibilities of Government and Parliament, and the British law-making process. To enhance their learning experience, they invited Nusrat for a Q&A session and were keen to discuss the rights of women to vote in elections, her role and responsibilities as the Member of Parliament of Sussex Weald, her journey to Parliament, hardest parts of the role of Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons and the process of passing Bills through the Commons and the Lords.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I have been visiting Ashdown Primary School for a number of years and it is always a pleasure to return and speak to the new Year 5 pupils about my role and responsibilities as Member of Parliament for Sussex Weald. It was encouraging to see our young residents engaging in not only discussions about the ins and outs of the processes in the House of Commons Chamber, but also on local issues that matter the most to them and their families, and ways to make a positive contribution to our local area.”
