THE DGH has come in for fierce criticism from the public at a packed public meeting on Wednesday evening.
It was organised by Liberal Democrat Josh Babarinde. At the meeting, We heard from a mum whose car broke down when driving from Eastbourne to The Conquest while she was following her child and disabled husband who were in an ambulance.
We also heard from the parent of a child who had meningitis, which had been misdiagnosed over the phone in the absence of the in-person expertise they needed at Eastbourne's Hospital.
We also heard from families who had to pay out hundreds of pounds in taxi fares between Eastbourne and The Conquest Hospital in Hastings to ensure their children got care.
Finally, a local nurse spoke out and said she felt pushed to breaking point and overstretched working at our local hospital trust.
