
The latest local sports results from the weekend of 15th & 16th February 2025
Lewes lost out in their trip to Essex when they fell to a 4-2 defeat against title hopefuls Billericay Town, with The Rooks putting in an encouraging performance despite the result against a strong opposition that sit second in the table, while The Rooks drop one place into 14th.
Elsewhere, Crowborough Athletic secured an important 4-1 win away to Shoreham that sees them now climb up to third, while AFC Uckfield Town saw another tie at The Oaks postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, with Jarvis Brook’s 1-1 draw against Upper Beeding meaning they will finish their season in second.
In the Mid Sussex Leagues, Rotherfield came out the wrong end of an entertaining 4-3 clash against Ringmer AFC, with their two late goals unable to rescue a point, after falling to convert two penalties during the match, while Ridgewood got back to their best and progressed into the Montgomery Cup semi finals by beating Polegate Town 3-1, as Barcombe lost 2-0 against the Cuckfield Rangers 2nd’s.
Lastly in football, and two big upsets for our sides, with Newick remaining top of the division by a point after losing 2-0 against second from bottom Horsted Keynes, while Maresfield Village saw their slim title hopes all but ended after they were defeated 4-1 by Cuckfield Town 2nd’s, with Plumpton Athletic securing a 1-0 win against Lindfield 3rd’s to move into eighth.
Finally in the men’s rugby, Heathfield & Waldron narrowly lost 37-33 against Deal & Betteshanger, while Crowborough were defeated 22-10 by Park House, with Uckfield in the Sussex Leagues securing an important 36-5 win against Worthing 3rd’s to stay top of their division by ten points with four games still to play.
